Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 Coyote Bowl Vineyard

A goodie in my Cellar..( tasted Jan 2018)

A serious Good Cabernet is hard to find and I feel like everyone comes into the store and they find out we only carry B.C Cabs they recoil in disappointment. I am here to tell you that B.C can make anything! Yes that is how diverse our climate and terroirs are.. .   About 15 % of our vineyards in B.C are dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon.

The cool thing is that Osoyoos ( Black Sage Bench where Coyote Bowl Is ) gets roughly about 1535 hours of (GDD) growing degree days.  Directly in line with Napa California ‘s (GDD) of 1450.   So here is a great example of a Cabernet Sauvignon B.C with Kim Pullen at the Helm.

The first sniff is a fragrant nose of Black Currant and cassis This ruby red wine has intensity with savoury and Sage notes, Spice and Coffee and green beans. The finish was long with great structure and balanced tannins.

4/5 for Value and taste

Lunessence Winery

Duet 2016

This year’s Wine releases will be very exciting as the Summer was one of the Hottest on Record In B.C

I am looking forward to adding Vancouver Island to my list of reviews as I will be taking a trip there  in a few weeks.

So Duet was very much not what I expected.  A blend of Syrah and Cabernet Franc cold fermented in 80 % Stainless Steel and 20 % American Oak. The Wine was medium weight with notes  Red Berries, Twig and Earth. The Palate has a creamy texture with light Tannins and a zip of pepper,

The finish is a not lengthy , however a very unique and pleasing wine  . I would recommend trying this with your Steak or Osso Buco

A mere $20

Value and taste 3.5/5

2014 Eau Vivre Pinot Noir
This winery is unfortunately no longer in business, however there are still a few bottles of this wine around here and there and it is well worth your time to hunt them down as this is one of the finest Okanagan Pinot Noirs that I have tasted.
I include the winery notes here as they very accurately echo my own. “The 2014 Pinot Noir is medium garnet in colour featuring intense aromas of cherry, cranberry and spice. Bright fruit flavours of fresh red berries, orange zest and clove are complimented with the wines lively acidity.
This winery has won numerous awards including the Lieutenant Governor’s Award twice for their Pinot Noir as well as Double Gold in the International Pinot Challenge. Get it while you can!
